My dryer suddenly stopped heating the clothes as it dries; everything else works fine. I’m new to appliance repair, but I’ve done my best to test several things already:
1. Checked dryer vents and hoses- clear 2. Checked heating element - has continuity (I purchased a multimeters and learned how to use the tone function to test continuity, but that’s pretty much all I know about it.) 3. I also tested thermostats 2&3 for continuity - working.
Here’s where I started having trouble. I’ve been looking at threads on this forum and found out that there is another thermostat and a thermester(?) that are located together in the same plastic housing. I tested those fuses for continuity and neither gave off a tone and the reading stayed at 1. Does that mean that they are both broken? Or could something be broken that controls them together?
Also I don’t know where to find the timer, and one of the threads talked about a timer being the issue.
Thanks for any and all help! :)

Ok so as for the thermostat on the exhaust vent it should read continuity (beep) but as for the thermistor you need to check it for ohms of resistance which should read about 8 to 12 ohms at room temp. The thermistor is responsible to cycle the heating element on and off. The thermostat act like a fuse and if it blows out must be replaced. If there is no beep on the thermostat as you stated that is your culprit you need to order this part number. Whirlpool WP35001087 Thermostat - AppliancePartsPros.com
