This is the timer you need, AP2984369 (from this site) or 2183400 locally.

Double check your wiring to the timer
2= Pink
1= Black
4= Orange
3= Red

ok, I think I figured out what is causing the breaker to trip. It only seems to happen when the timer kicks into the defrost mode. I've forwared it past the defrost position, the refrigerator comes on and all is good....well except that it still won't defrost.

Sounds like you have a dead short in the defrost wiring.

Open it up and check that a wire or perhaps the element itself is not shorting out. Maybe with the old timer, it blew out the timer's contacts instead of the circuit breaker. I would not leave the new timer in until you find out what is causing this, could screw up the new one when it hits the defrost cycle.

Pull the timer and check from the PinK connection to White
It should read 28 to 32 ohms.Then check to machine frame (earth ground).
You are looking for a short (0 ohms) so use a low scale on the meter.

Unfortunately your short looks like it is intermittent so the odds are high that everything will read OK when you check it (Murphy's Law).
Carefully check the wires going to the heater and defrost thermostat for cracks or any signs of arcing. remove them so you can see the whole thing.

Give the defrost thermostat a shake, if it rattles replace it. Also check where it attaches to the coil for any arcing spots. Could be that every once in a while it's contacts short to it's case which is grounded to the frame through the coils so it blows the breaker.

If the wiring looks good then the defrost thermostat would be at the top of my list.

Hopefully your timer contacts are still OK.
