I need to replace my lower oven element. I have determined which element I need to order but I want to make sure it is actually the element. Can I take it out and use an ohm meter? Also when I take out the two screws holding the element and pull it forward a couple inches it seems to be pulling out two wires with it. How do they unplug? How far do I dare pull it out? Thank you.

Be sure to remove power from the unit when working on it. Many units still have power to one side of the element even with the element shut off. I am not sure if this is the case with this unit but better safe than sorry.

Yes, see the tech sheet for what it should measure as you did not say which element in the lower oven needs replacing.

The connectors should just push off. Just be sure not to pull on the wires themselves.

How far do I dare pull it out?
Until there is some resistance, just don't yank on them.
Also it is a good idea to clip something onto the wires (clothespin etc> ) so that they do not disappear into the back of the unit before you get the new element attached.

Thanks for the reply. In the tech sheet the picture of the bake element is different then the one I need AP4094020. It is the very bottom element in the double oven. Maybe the picture doesn't matter, the specs were 21.3 ohms. My experience with a ohm meter has really only been to check for open circuits. So in this case after I adjust my meter on the X1 scale if it reads infinity I know its bad. Are there times when the element is bad and still reads resistance? If 21.3 is the correct reading for that element what kind of variation would I be looking for and would it be higher or lower? Thanks again.

The element could be either higher or lower.
Usually if they are abd they will be an open.

Also I do not know what meter you are using and what the X1 scale's spec is.
As an example if the scale is 1 to 20 ohms then anything over 20 ohms would read as an open.
