I would do one thing at a time. The vent has to be done first.

I suspect these are my problems as well. I have removed them, but how do I test them?

Can you be more specific on the problem please?

The complete model number of the dryer would not hurt too.

Whirlpool Estate Model # TGDX640PQ0

Based on my novice troubleshooting, I suspect the problem is my gas coils. I have removed them, but don't know how to test them to see if they are functioning properly. Recommendations?

Hi Gene,
It works like brand new. The problem start out with the bad ignitor and replaced with a brand new defective one. Thanks

You are welcome. I'm glad you were able to find it.

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your diagnosis and repair with us. It's not often we see an intermittent problem caused by a faulty igniter.

My problem is that the tumbler works but doesn't heat. Here is what I have diagnosed so far...

- Gas is on
- Breakers are set
- Fuse on back of dryer work
- Ignitor box glows red for 10-15 seconds then stops

I have removed the gas valve coils, as they may be a likely suspect, but I don't know how to test them to determine if they are the problem. Ideally, I would prefer not to get the replacement coils, install them, then determine that they weren't the problem.

You can find the instructions on how to check the coils in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...er-runs-but-no-heat.html

Check them and post the results.
