Default dryer runs but no heat
Model Number: LG8519W2   Brand: Maytag   Age: More than 10 years

gas dryer runs/tumbles but no heat. opened front panel, ignitor does not become hot. checked resistance 78 ohms. checked flame sensor continuity-ok. checked continuity on duct limit thermostat-ok. checked thermostat (3 terminals) 1-2 continuity-ok but 1-3-open. checked the thermostat heater underneath it-also open. does that mean that i needed to replace thermostat & thermostat heater? thank you in advance for your help, ompong

Measure the gas valve coils resistance. It suppose to be: across the terminals on the left side coil (on the picture) - 1220 Ohms ± 50, across the left and middle terminals on the right side coil - 1365 Ohms ± 25, across the right and middle terminals on the right side coil - 560 Ohms ± 25.

If any of the readings is wrong then replace both coils.

- The part number for the coil kit is AP2150379

i checked the coils, the one with two terminals- open; the other's measurement is just like what you said it would be. ordered parts, will let you know. thank you so much for your quick response, ompong

what do u mean measure with what kind of tool? i feel really dumb asking these questions but my dryer wont heat either and it will run all day untill i open the door.
