First we thought it was the belt...wrong.. We noticed heat coming into tumbler getting really hot. My son thinks we need to replace thermostat #8318268. any help is appreciated...

I assume the drum is turning.
You need to open it up and clean out the internal lint chute/vent and external vent and make sure the fan is working. If you still have the problem try changing the operating thermostat.

If the heat is coming on but the dryer will not turn then you have a problem with the motor and its wiring and it is time to get a new dryer.
If the heat is not coming on, check the thermal fuse, the door switch and the start switch.
