works fine but doesnt spin on all settings. knob goes through all cycle

yes ii can hear what i think is the motor. it sometimes spins like 4-5 sec but really slow

You have a bad clutch caused by dragging brake shoes, or something stuck in the tub. Shine a strong lite in the tub and check. If ok, go to my article in the general talk section, page five, "replacing direct drive brake shoes".
