drying clothes the other day and it just quit running what do I check are their any fuses in the machine that might go out?

The most likely cause is a thermal fuse that does not reset and "blows" when the dryer gets too hot. A lesser possibility is the door switch, and I had one of these last week where the motor went out, which is unusual but it does happen.
