Second fridge in the basement. Fridge not very cool, but freezer works. Freezer coils have some frost and one corner had large ice chunk that I removed. Evaporator fan not appear to be working and nothing block it. Door switch works and still does not activate fan. Also have water drips forming on ceiling of the inside fridge. For 1993 second fridge is it worth trying to replace fan or possible main control board. Is that the correct diagnosis? Or am I better off junking and buying new.

Remove the rear cover and check if the compressor and the fan next to it are running. Post your findings. Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid refrigerator Model KTRS20MAWH01Gene.

Clean the condenser coil (#3 on the unit break down diagram), wait about 24 hours and check temperatures inside both compartments. Post your findings. Gene.

Gene, It was pretty dirty and I vacummed it out from the front and the back. The temp in the fridge after 24 hours is still warm at 53.2. The freezer was on the coldest setting and it got down to -20 when I reset it to the middle setting and stopped measuring. What next?

Remove evaporator fan wires and stick 115 volts to the fan motor and see if it runs. If so, you will need a voltmeter to find the problem, might be a bad door switch. If not, order a new evaporator fan.
