My dryer will heat for about 20 seconds then goes out. It will occasionally come on through out a 60 minute cycle but never gets the clothes dry.

Most newer dryers have a thermal fuze and a overload thermostat. When the dryer overheats, the overload thermostat will trip ist, saving the fuze. Your ducting may be clogged. Remove ducting and jam a thermometer in the dryer duct and measure the temp. should be around 145 degrees. If now ok just clean out the ducting in the house. They sell a linteater brush for this if needed.

Is your dryer gas or electric? The model number you provided looks confusing because "DET" stays for the electric dryer and "DGT" for the gas. Depend on the heat source it could be different diagnosis.
