Gas Oven Just Stopped Working. Top Burners Ok, Broiler Ok, Oven Igniter Glows Bright And Hot, No Gas Is Coming Out To Be Lit. Can The Gas Control Valve Work For The Broiler And Fail For The Oven, Or Is The Problem Elsewhere?

Very well could be the glow bar, even though it glows red, it may not be drawing enough amps to open the gas valve

yes, possible, but not definitive. could be the valve (?). I dont want to replace parts until it works, I would like to determine which part is the problem... The gas valve is not located next to the igniter bar, so how does the igniter open the gas valve?

The gas valve is located behind the bottom drawer. If you are able to take an amp reading fron the glow bar, that will tell you if it is good or not. The glowbar is connected to the gas valve, and when the glowbar turns on and draws about 3.3 to 3.6 amps it opens up the gas valve. Let's say the glowbar is drawing 2.8 amps, the gas valve will never open up.

I took the back covers off and have exposed the igniter wires. Looks like the igniter is fed by a wire from the thermostat(?), and exits to the gas valve. So I should disconnect the gas valve wire and place my meter leads between that wire and the valve to read amps? I would have already tried that, but I have to get a new meter, mine only reads DC amps (and radio shack here does not carry that type).
