What is the original problem that caused you to open the dryer cabinet?

when starting dryer heard a humming noise and drum was struggling to start.the unit tripped out.emptied load and dryer would start although still struggling. slight smell of melting or burning while running.opened unit andbelt and idler look fine. opened top of unit, seems like drum might be out of sync .what holds the drum in balance. thanks ron

The tumbler sits inside the felt seals and is supported in the rear by the two rollers. the front of the cabinet supports the front of the tumbler. It sounds by your description that you have a weak motor.
