In May I had my dryer serviced because it wouldn't start: a repairman installed a new "Thermal Cut Out" and the dryer worked fine until a few days ago. The after the dryer ran on a heated cycle for ten minutes, it tripped a circuit breaker. If I set the dryer on a twenty minute setting at the end of a cycle, it runs until the end of the cycle. Also, if I run it on a no heat cycle, it will run until the end of the cycle. An electrician told me that I should test each part after the circuit has been tripped to determine which part has a "short" in it. Can you tell me where to start testing or is the problem in a different area?

Is very strange that it will run full cycles with high heat if you do this. I may not be understanding this correctly. You probably will have a hard time finding this sounds like something is heating up, shorting to the frame and then when it cools the short is removed. Two items come to mind the motor or the heating element. The only one you can check visually is the element so I would start there. Remove it and see if there are any signs of the element sagging and touching the case. One other possibility would be the timer. Also, it is always possible that your breaker is no good. |
