I ordered a defrost timer and cannot find where to put the part. Please help.

I ordered a defrost control and cannot find where to put it on my side by side maytag part number er61005988 ADP defrost. Do you have a suggestion.

The adaptive defrost control (#13 on the controls break down diagram) is located in the far right corner inside the housing.

Unplug the refrigerator.

To access the part you have to remove the light shield (#21 on the controls break down diagram) by releasing the tab on each side on the back of the light shield and pulling the part toward yourself.

Then you have to remove the screw on each side of the control panel (#23 on the controls break down diagram) and remove the control panel.

Then you have to remove the screw on each side of the heat shield (#19 on the controls break down diagram) and the screw (#2 on the controls break down diagram) holding the housing to the back wall and carefully pull the housing toward yourself.

Unplug the old PCB and remove it. Install the new one (do not remove the new PCB from the plastic box. It should be installed in the box.

- The part number for the adaptive defrost control is AP3160614

Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag refrigerator Model MZD2766GEQ
