Sounds like varnish buildup in the compressor, just had one today that was bad, same symptom. Compressor current will build up over 3 amps, then cut out on thermal cuttout.
This compressor may be fixed by adding Supco 88 solvent to the compressor. System will need to be vacummed down and solvent added, then re-charged. Never did this, but you might want to re-post, maybe someone else has done it with success. Personally, I have little regard for the modern Frigidair compressors, too many failures.
