Washer ran last night. Today when a load was started the panel lit and the door locked. Then the washer started making a clicking sound like the door had not latched. The code flashed dl and f. The door will not unlock and the washer will not start. Is the door latch/lock electrical? And how do you get it to unlatch?

Hi Dameese

These machines are great when they work, and when they do not work, well, you are experiencing that now. They are very difficult to diagnose.

If you will take off the service access panel in front (screws at the bottom) you should find a tech sheet in a plastic envelop inside the panel. It will help you through diagnosis.

To unlock the door, after you have removed the panel reach up to the lock and you will feel a tab like device hanging down. Pull down gently and you will hear a click and the door is unlocked.

If the machine powers up after you do this without an error code I think your most likely fix will be replacing the door lock switch. I cannot say I have a lot of confidence in that diagnosis, it just seems like the door lock switch is the problem on these machines.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

We got the washer open and tried to restart the machine and it gave the same codes. We removed the door latch and have a replacement one ordered.
