Hi folks,

My daughter has a side by side PSI23SGMAFBS. about a month ago, the freezer quit cooling properly. The fridge side stays around 37% but the freezer says around 34 degrees.

Yesterday, I took off the back and blew out all the dust off the condenser. The fan seems to be working. I unplugged for an hour, plugged it back in and ran the self diagnostics which passed all the thermisters. as it cycled thru the fans, it seemed to turn them on and off properly. about 4 hours after I plugged it back in, the fridge was at 37 degree and the freezer had cooled to about 12 degrees and stopped there. I haven't gone there today to check it out.

The compressor is hot to the touch. Also, the divider in front is VERY hot to the touch and on the outside left wall, there are too hot spots about the size of my hand, one about a foot from the top, the other about a foot from the bottom.

Before I start order parts, I'd like some suggestions.

People online for similar problems have suggested new condenser fan motor, main control board, stuff defrost heater/ bad defrost temp guage, etc. Thought I'd see if you had any insight.

Thanks,

jb

Remove the back cover and put a portable fan in the back to cool the compressor and condensing coils. If temperatures become "normal", replace the condensing fan motor and motherboard.(Part number: AP4265957
