After a power outage of several hours my Maytag refrigerator / freezer dose not seem to be cooling very well . I hear the fan run but not the compressor.
at least it no longer makes the same sound . I reset the temp. controls to the original setting when I purchased the unit . However after a few days itt it is still not cooling and the freezer will not make ice or freeze anything.

In order to provide most accurate advice, we need the complete model number of the refrigerator.

Thank you.

Thank you for the model number.

Your refrigerator is operated by the electronic control board which is very sensitive to any power problems. So very likely the electronic control board got damaged. To verify it, check for 120 VAC between the Blue and White wires coming to the compressor while the temperature control calls for cooling. This is a live voltage test so be very careful to not electrocute yourself.

If there is no proper voltage, the electronic control board would need to be replaced.

If there is proper voltage, the compressor start device would need to be replaced.

The electronic control board Part number: AP6022400
Part number: AP6022400

The compressor start device Part number: AP6016829
Part number: AP6016829

Here are the breakdown diagrams for Maytag refrigerator Model MBR2256KES3

Good luck and keep us posted.

Gene , your direction on the repair to my Matag frig. and freezer was dead on. I checked for 120 VAC at the compressor and the voltage was good.
I placed an order with APP for the start device on the 29th. and received it on the 30th. When I got home from work I installed it , plugged it in.The unit ran perfectly. After 2.5 hours I had the desired temp. in both compartments. Thank you very much for the help. I thank the good Lord for people like yourself that are willing to lend a hand and ask nothing in return.
Blessings to you my friend.

Thank you.:) :)
