Refrigerator and freezer will only work when control is set to 5.
when control is set at 0ff and than turned back on there is a slight click at the 3 mark. Ordered and received thermostat part (if that is the problem) and need instructions on replacing it.

Jozcee,

You're on the right track.

Based on your description, I would also start at the control knob or temperature control as well,

Part number: AP3084361
Part number: AP3084361

To access the thermostat,

First, unplug the power cord from the outlet, you don't want to hurt yourself or short out any components.

To access the control, you will need to remove the control box and air diffuser cover and block, from the ceiling of the refrigerator compartment.

The control box is secured to the ceiling by a screw just off center to the left on the bottom of the box.

The diffuser cover and foam block, is a "squeeze snap " fit into the ceiling panel.( I would remove both parts for ease of access ).

If you disconnect the multi plug wire harness at the back wall, you could take the assembly out and work on it from a table or countertop.

When you remove the control from the box assembly, be very careful to not over extend or break the clips, that hold the control in place.

You will also need to remove the plastic sheath from the control capillary tube, and install it on the new control, you also need to route the capillary tube the same as the original.

From there, you basiclly reverse the procedure, plug in the power cord , and turn the unit on.

(set the control at the mid range of the control setting, and allow 8 to 12 hours for the control to reach the proper operating temperature.

Good Luck,

:) :) :)

Thank you sincerely for your prompt and explicit instructions. Thermostat has not been installed as yet because (it is still a mystery to me) the refrigerator kicked on and so far is working. Not sure how long this will last and am prepared (thanks to you) to replace thermostat when something happens.

Your help is very much appreciated. Hopefully all will work well and it is good to know I can turn to you for further help is necessary.
