Please help, have the same problam, what repair did you do? wag2170@oponline.net thantks in advance

Hello Gene, what is Whirlpool talking about with Service Pointer k8178446 for a control panel reading PF. I am unable to use control panel seems locked up, only reading PF. clocks works fine. Whats next. What repaired AGRAYWALL problem…HELP

What is the complete model number of the unit and the color of the control panel?

Gene.

Hello Gene, here is the info you requested to help me. GW395LEPB00

Gene, forgot to tell you control panel is BLACK. By the way I have already replaced the circuit board. Still same problem PF

WAG2170,

If you can not set up the clock and/or eliminate “PF” after power was reset then, most likely, the problem is a bad membrane switch. I’m assuming when you said “I have already replaced the circuit board” you meant the clock.

  • The part number for the membrane switch assembly is AP4263577

GENE, Thanks for your info. I failed to tell you that my Control Panel will not work at all. Lights up and clock works but unable to use any controls on Panel. I see that alot of people are haveing trouble with Whirlpool with this same problem, with panel reading PF, thanks in advance

Go ahead send e-mail to Whirlpool to complain the problem. As more complain to Whirlpool I hope they’ll take some action, like “RE-CALL”. see below for where to complain.

WAG2170,

Looks like the problem is a bad membrane switch which comes as a part of a new, redesigned control panel.

I do not think Whirlpool will take it as a recall because this problem did not cause any danger to the consumers. Consumers could try to file a group lawsuit which is very hard and takes a very long time.

  • The part number for the control assembly (included the membrane switch) is AP4263577

Hi Gene,
can you recommand any one serve San Gabriel city? would you give me a call 626.807.6115? please.

Hi Gene,
Thanks, the diagnose result - my range need to replace the elec. control. and my Kirkland Whirlpool frig. compressor need to replace.(which just past the 5 yrs. warranty by 25 days) >_< also I call the AE card and they don’t extend the 5 yrs. warranty. Is there any other way I can get my frig. fix? Never buy Whirlpool again!!

Hi WAG2170,
Do you want to sell me the circuit board if that work on my range? parts #9760013. and did you replace the touch panel yet? is that work? I might has the same problem as yours.

Hi John,

If compressor gone bad - there is no other way to fix it.

About Whirlpool refrigerators: in my opinion they are on top of any others today and I just bought one for myself. Just look for a model without computers!

Hello johnmou. I replaced the control panel just as I was told, and it fixed my problem. Quick repeair, I did see that Whirlpool did upgade the new panel. I still have the Circuit board—unused. No good to me since that was not my problem. Keep me advised how you make out. Sorry for the delay in getting back:eek:

Hi johnmou, still have the circuit board NEW. get back to me at DODGECITYPARTS@NETSCAPE.NET

Hi Gene,

I’m a new member I have the same model GW395LEPB, the temperature button has problems I can increase the temperature the decrease is not working. I’m not sure what to replace is it the front panel and I have it black too. I would appreciate if you can mention the part number. Thanks in advance

Sorry for the delay. Most likely the problem is a bad control panel.

Two numbers after “B” in the model number you posted are missing which are needed for the correct part number.

Gene.

Thanks for the reply gene

No where I could find the model number GW395LEPB on the range. I checked front, back I opened it and checked every where. I have this number reference only on my best buy bill. I check the picture on the web and it matched to what is on the bill that is GW395LEPB.

Now when I look at control panel I find three numbers

9756506WH
9756506BL
9756506BT

Since my unit is completely black I assume the part number should be 9756506BL. Please correct me if I’m wrong. If you need a picture of the unit I can post one. Or you can check my renovation video to see the unit

http://www.sivaveera.com/ourhome.wmv

Or it could be just the membrane switch which is not working. All the functions work except temp (-) reducing the temp does not work.

The part number 9756506BL looks like a valid part number. Unfortunately this part is no longer available.

The name plate with the model number can be on the door frame or on the range frame behind the bottom drawer.
