have a 3 year old Lg french door. came home to water all on floor. got bottom door off and saw water continuing to overflow tray of maker when "switched" on. no leak in line, simply overflowing tray. did not leave switched on long enough to see if it stops but based on water everywhere assume it won't. anyone had this issue, could it be the maker or the water control valve? thanks in advance for any help.

If the water stopped after you switched the icemaker off, chances are it's not the valve.
