I can hear the compressor turn on and then turn off after about 10 seconds. The compressor is very hot to the touch. Have already cleaned everything, wasn't too dirty to begin with.

Never, ever use a hard start device on a modern refrigerator, it's use will guarantee later compressor failure or adaptive defrost failure. If you think the compressor start device is bad, order the factory part on this site. The start device part # AP3083556, also replace the run capacitor AP3085822.
From the syptoms, you probably have a bad compressor, maybe due to power, or thermal overloads.
