Does anyone know if the agitator repair kit, part #AP3138838 requires any specialized tools, or can we do it ourselves (home owners)? How difficult a job is it?

On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the easiest this job is a minus 2.

You do not need any special tools, and if you click on your model number you can see an exploded view of your machine. Go to the agitator section and you will see how things go together.

The only tool you need is a 7/16" socket with an extenstion to get out the bolt that holds the agitator on. The agitator will then lift off.

Good luck.

I recently repaired the agitator from new parts on a similar washer. I had no problems doing it on my own with standard tools. The agitator works great.

Good luck.

I have the agitator off the washer, can't get the area that is called the agitator kit (#AP3138838) out. What's the trick? Also, how do I know what length of cam I have (what part is the cam?) thanks

If you used your model number to order the part it should be correct.

Good luck!
