I beleive my timer is inoperable on my dryer. I have the timer and the auto dry on one dial. when I select the dial to a time it does not move. When i use the auto dry feature it does not turn either. before i order a new timer, i wanted to ensure it was not something else first. This seems like a no brainer, however, i keep getting a nagging feeling that it may be some type of sensor also.
Thank you,
mike

Yes, when the timer does not advance in both Auto and Timed modes it is usually the timer that is shot.

A way to be sure is to measure the voltage across the timer motor, if you have 120 volts and it does not advance the timer is toast.

Be careful, there is 240 volts in the timer area and it can be lethal !!!
