I copied this post since it the same as mine. I have no burning smell in the motor and although I do not know how to test the solenoid, I feel it is the switch in the door.
Makes ice great, but the auger will not operate. Here is what I have done.
1. The front flapper door works fine, as does the in door water. 2. The auger rotates freely. 3. Manualy rotated the motor, gears are fine.
I suspect that a switch is bad, but I dont know which one, or were.
Any ideas would be helpfull...........................:mad:

Hi Mike, Most likely the problem is a bad switch but it does not come separate. The whole front cover should be replaced as an assembly. In order to provide the right part number I need the color of the original front cover. Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool refrigerator Model ED5FHGXKT00Gene.
