My Whirlpool side by side refrigerator's ice maker stopped woring the other day. I have water going to the water dispenser, but the ice maker is producing any ice. What is the first step in determining what is wrong with my refrigerator. HELP!!!

The first thing I would check is the water feeding tube into the ice maker for frost inside.

If it is frozen up, defrost it using a hair dryer and replace the water inlet valve (#10 on the ice maker parts break down diagram).

- The part number for the water inlet valve is AP3160649

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool refrigerator Model ED5FHEXMT00

I checked the water feeding tube, no signs of frost or water. What now?

Well after testing points L & N, there was 120V. I then created a short with points T & H, and the motor didn't respond. So I have to replace the entire unit, what is the part number and what is the cost range.

There are two options:

1. You can replace the motor-module which cost $61.90
or
2. You can replace the whole ice maker which cost $96.50

Because we do not know what else, besides the motor, is bad - I would recommend to replace the whole ice maker.

- The part number for the motor-module assembly is AP3177342

- The part number for the ice maker is AP2984633

Well I replaced the entire ice maker, and nothing happened. Will the ice maker automaticly start, or do I need to reset something? I don't know if the water is even getting to the freezer. I do have water coming from the door? And there are no signs of frost or freezing in the line coming through the back of the frigerator.
