I’ m not sure what position the 2 wires should be connected. Both wires have white insulation, can’t see what color of wires. Dies it make a difference, left or right?

Just make sure the connectors fit snugly on the terminals. Loose connections create resistance, resistance gets hot and burns up the connection.
