My Kenmore Elite He4 dryer will not spin. When I hold the door switch down and press start it hums and I get heat, the fan turns on and I feel air coming from the back. If I spin the drum it turns but then stops. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Odd symptoms. I would say a broken belt but this model has a broken belt switch so the motor would not run if the belt was broken. If you have air flow, then the motor is running. Maybe the belt is worn/stretched and slipping or the idler pulley is wearing out.

Thank you. Fairbank56. I'll carefully try to take it apart and look at the belt.

Ok. I replaced the pulley and the belt. Now that it's back together when I hold the switch on with the door open I hear a hum and when I spin the drum it continues to spin. So now it is that it won't start to spin.
Any suggestions would be grateful. Thanks

Yes it's me again. If I put clothes in it and then spin it, it starts to squeal and stops. So is it the motor?

Well, I can't troubleshoot your dryer from here so I can't say for sure if it's the motor. It could be one of the drum rollers is binding and preventing the drum from rotating.

Thanks for the advice. One of the rollers was not as smooth as the others but I did not realize that it would keep the drum from turning. Thanks again
