I have a GE stack unit that began making a loud noise then the tub locked up and smoked the belt. I replaced the belt and lubricated the bearing. It seemed to work ok on light loads but locked up and burned the belt up on a full load.
What do I need to replace other than the bearing? I haven't done anything this major on a washer before. The unit has some age but seemed to work great before this happened.

You can try replacing the bearing but given your symptoms I think it is more likely that the transmission is failing, and given the cost of a new one unfortunately you are probably better off replacing the unit. Hopefully you can get buy with single units as these combo's are expensive. I am linking you to a service manual for your machine. Yes it is a Frigidaire. http://www.emaservicetips.com/pdfs/488_3.pdf
