Maytag gas dryer was initially just not drying the clothes fully but was putting out heat. Then stopped putting out heat altogether. Igniter had scorch mark and break so replaced it. Now start up cycles through, igniter lights, stays on for a few moments then it sounds like the gas valve clicks but no fireup and ignitor goes out. Starts over again. I've checked all the limits by by-passing them and still doesn't light. I am surmising that the gas valve is bad and have 1 in will-call waiting, but wanted some feedback before I go and purchase it.

Gas valves rarely fail. Try replacing the coils first. They're less expensive.
