The first thing that always should be checked before you start suspecting any parts on the dryer is the source voltage where the cord hooks up to the back of the unit. But before doing any of this the question needs to be asked, have you ever done any sort of electrical testing before?

A Volt meter needs to be used to verify if 240 volts is present at the two outside leads where the cord attaches to the dryer.
