I own a 42" counter depth French door Kitcen Aid refrigerator KBFO42FTX04. The icemaker (located in freezer drawer) stopped working. Turned the fridge off for 5 minutes, that didn't solve it. Freezer temp is 0 degrees. The red led blinks twice followed by a pause. Looks like nothing is obstructing the left side where the led is supposed to shine. Also installed a new water filter. Any guesses on what steps I should take next? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your assistance. With the flapper depressed, the red led on the right-hand side continues to blink twice with about one second of a pause between blinks. The icemaker on/off switch is in the "on" position and operates properly.

Looks like the problem is a bad ice maker optics. The instructions are attached to the post. - The divider (includes receiver board) Part number: W10290822

Thanks Gene,
I much appreciate your help with this. Before I order all these parts, can you tell me what the red led is supposed to do? How can one determine if the emitter or receiver are faulty? Or do both need to be replaced? Are you confident that it isn't the icemaker unit? Thanks again,
J.C.

The optic boards control power to the ice maker. The status LED shows the status of the optic boards. While the optic beam is open, the LED should be steady On. If it's blinking, then there is something wrong with he optic boards. They should be replaced together. If you would like, unscrew the freezer light bulb and repeat this test. If the LED will keep blinking, perform the tests described in the step 3 of the attached tech sheet. Gene.
