My dryer has been making a loud screeching sound for about a week which has gotten progressively worse. I took apart the dryer and the sound looks to be coming from the blower or the motor. This is my first time working on a dryer so any help pinpointing the problem would be appreciated. I've uploaded a video to youtube in case it's of help:

Maytag dryer - screeching sound - YouTube

Is there anything else I can do to narrow down what's causing the sound? Or is it something obvious that I'm not aware of?

Most likely the problem is a bad blower wheel due to a worn out central hole. You will need a special pliers to remove the retaining ring (#12 at the diagram).

- The blower wheel Part number: 31001317
Part number: 31001317

- The snap-ring pliers Part number: 73236
Part number: 73236
