I have an estate whirlpool top load washer that has started leaking. The water seems to come out on the left front corner when it is filling. If I move the basket it doesn't seem to leak. It started a little while ago when I washed some blankets. I probably won't fix it myself but before I have a repairman come out I wondered what I was looking at for $.

You need to take the cabinet off and observe it operating to pinpoint the source of the leak. Here are some good illustrations.

If it is the pump, which is located on the front left, you can fix it yourself and save.
