Door strike is broken and broken part is in door do we need to remove broken piece before replacing the strike

Broken part is in the door latch (upper hole)

Broken part is in the door latch (upper hole) I can see the broken part but it is hard to remove do you have a suggestion

Hi. In your case I recommend to replace the door latch also.I know it's much more $ but the chance that you will damage it trying to remove the broken piece is very grate. The door latch Part number: 131763202
