Just moved into new apartment and it has a 4 prong outlet. My dryer has a 3 prong cord. I brought a new cord and the wires are white, green, black and red. The old cord is white, green and black. How do I attach the new cord to the existing connections on the dryer?

The white wire goes to the middle post, the red goes on one of the outer post and the black goes to the other outer post. The green wire attaches to the cabinet/frame. Some use the screw that holds the terminal block cover to attach the green one. You may even see a green headed screw nearby to attach the green wire to.
