I just got an older dryer and have to switch the cord to a 4 prong cord. I have looked up how to do this, but my dryer has no bonding strap, and the white cord that is supposed to be attached to a green screw is a green wire. Do I leave that wire attached and also connect the green wire from the cord to it as well? Or do I detach the green wire from the dryer from the screw and cap it? Thanks for any help you can give!

Red goes on one end of the terminal block, and black goes on the other, and whit goes in the middle, and green has to go on a ground terminal. If not one there, cut if off, and tape it up, and you have it. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Ok so, I got the wire thing figured out, but now the screws wont tighten. They were the exact same screws I just took off the last cord, but they are just hanging there no matter how much I tighten them. It looks like a nut is loose just behind the metal connecting part on the dryer. Frustrated!

You basically have to pull the nut forward, when you are ready to screw the screw in. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
