My in the door ice maker stopped working. It has done this before and started working unexpectedly after about a week. This time no such luck! There is no water being supplied to the ice maker module. I have checked the water inlet line and there is sufficient water and pressure at the source. I have replaced the water filter for the refrigerator. I get water out of the front door water dispenser. The black rubber inlet tube to fill the ice maker does not appear to be frozen. I removed the module from the refrigerator and nothing seems jammed. I suspect either the icemaker control module & motor assembly or the water inlet valve. How can I determine which one it is? Also, I have not been able to find my model refrigerator (Kenmore 106 56542400) in any of the help sites therefore I'm reluctant to order any parts for fear of getting the wrong one. Thanks, Bick.

Hi Bick,
Open the freezer door, press in the emitter flapper door (on the left side) to unblock the optics beam and view the diagnostics "status" LED on the right side.
Post your findings.
Gene.

Gene. I had pulled the whole unit out of the fridge yesterday to look at it and just put it back in to check the "status" light. As the ice maker unit was warm from being out overnight, I don't know if there is a temperature sensor in it that makes a difference, but anyway, ...The red light blinks twice about every 1 to 2 seconds with the flapper door open. The red light stays on with the flapper closed.

1/7/08 I reinstalled the ice maker on 1/4/08 to check the sensor light and it has been producing ice ever since. Guess it decided to start working again! Thanks for the help. Bick

Possible it was loose connection. Anyway, I'm glad you were able to fix it.

Hi George,
That means there is nothing wrong with the optic boards.
Gene.
