my dryer sometimes lights up for heat and sometimes does not. the burner assembly glows, but sometimes there is no ignition, and the glow stops. I am thinking either the flame sensor, or the igniter. And trying to determine which part might act like that

I would look for a burnt wire, if none, I would replace the flame sensor and the igniter. Igniter AP3094138, flame sensor AP2910747. If you have an amprobe, igniter current should be over 3 amp.
