Dryer would not start. Thought the issue was with the push to start relay switch. Replaced the switch and it still will not start. Any suggestions on what else it could be?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL RES7648EQ2 | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a wiring diagram https://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%203406692.pdfFirst flip the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. It is not uncommon to loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. Better yet check that you have power at the plug with a meter. L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral should be 120 volts L1 to L2 should be 240 volts. Might be the door switch. Does your interior light go on/off when the switch is pushed/released? Note that if it does, this does not totally eliminate the switch as the contacts inside the switch may be broken. If yes, manually hold the switch closed with the door open and try to start the dryer. Again best way to check is with a meter. Next could be the thermal fuse. This is the one mounted on the blower housing. Should be 0 ohms. If you do not have a meter. Unplug the unit, remove the wires from the fuse, short them together, tape them up so they cannot short to anything. Plug the unit in and give it a try. If it is the fuse it is important to find the cause. Most common is the vent system, clean and check it. Clean/check the blower wheel. Also do not run the unit for any length of time like this, the fuse is a critical safety feature so replace it ASAP.. If all the above are OK all that is left is some timer contacts, a loose/broken wire somewhere in the motor circuit and the motor itself. |
