The oven ingnitor glows bright red, but the safety valve won't open up unless I tap on it. The broiler works fine. I replaced the valve (part #AP2138239), but the same thing happens. The sticker on the valve says "do not apply 120 volts to this valve", but the shorter lead coming from the ignitor to the valve has 117 volts when the oven selector switch is calling for heat, and 2 volts when it's off. Are we talking a new module and ignitor; and possibly another new safety valve if I fried this one? :(

Most likely the problem with your oven is a bad igniter.

If you would like, you can learn how the igniter works from one of my previous post http://forum.appliancepartspros...as-oven-not-burning.html

- The part number for the igniter AP2150412

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Tappan oven Model 30-2757-23-03
