thanks for the input but is there any way to tell for sure that the motor is bad or anything else to check before spending the money for a new motor just wondering hoping to save as much money as possible. Thanks again for the help.

I took the dryer apart and gave it a good cleaning and now the motor is acting fine but now the dryer will not get hot. Are the heating coils bad or is there something else to look for that might be causing.

It could be a bad coils, a bad thermostats or a bad wires. You have to have a simple multimeter to perform the troubleshooting.

Here is a wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...df/Webster/131850600.pdf The one in ite parts breakdown is pretty blurry. I would also suspect the centrifugal switches on the motor. If the one for heat does not close when the motor gets close to operating speed, you will not have heat. Also if the one for switching out the start winding does not switch over, the start winding will not disconnect and this will cause the motor to overheat. Could be the centrifugal mechanism is not operating correctly. One way to check would be to: Unplug the unit Short the two wires that go to the heater centrifugal switch together. Tape then up so they cannot short to anything else. May also have to tape them to something else to make sure they do not vibrate and get into the motor. Plug the unit in and give it a try If you now have heat then that is your problem. Note: This is just for testing. Do not run the unit very long like this as the heater will now run without the motor turning. If the motor does not turn for some reason the machine will over heat and hopefully blow the thermal fuse. |
