The dispenser is not dispensing ice. The ice maker is producing and there is a low "humming" or "whirling" noise like it is trying to work when the dispenser flap is depressed (engaged) but nothing is coming out.
Can you help?

Thanks! Alrome, Try this, Remove the ice bin from the freezer, tape or hold the freezer door light switch closed, select cubed ice and press the paddle in. You should hear: the cube solenoid activate, and you should be able to hear and see the auger motor yoke turn in a counterclockwise direction, if the yoke is not turning, check and make sure the motor is not frozen with ice or frost. Otherwise you'd have a bad auger motor. I think, that's where we'll find the problem. :) :) :)

:) :) :) Ok, I have tried that and the device is not turning. I looked at the motor, but cannot see any frost damage. How can I test the motor? Or do you think that is done for?

Since it makes a noise but doesn't turn/move. You'll need to empty the freezer, remove power to the refrigerator. Remove the Yoke from the motor shaft( hold the motor shaft, with a small pair of pliers, behind the yoke, and turn the yoke clockwise to remove it. Remove the four(4) screws holding the motor bracket assembly to the freezer wall and carefully slide the assembly out, enough to disconnect the wire harnesses, and slide the assembly out of the freezer. Remove the screws holding the motor to the bracket, and reverse the process. Good Luck, :) :) :)

I found & fixed my same problem. There are gears that must mesh properly in order to turn the auger that dispenses the ice. If they are frozen over, they cannot mesh. Remove the ice cube bin. You will see one of the gears in the door where the bin sits and the other is underneath the bin. I used a hairdryer to melt the ice build up from both gears, put back the bin and, voila! It works just fine. I don't know what caused the ice to build up there in the first place - maybe using crushed ice and then having the door open too many times on hot days? Anyway, it is an easy fix to an annoying problem.
