The agitator will not agitate or spin at all (I know its not the door switch and it is pumping the water out of the drum.
I read that some machines have a reverse function with the motor to agitate, is this the case with this machine?
Also, the agitator will not spin, at all, either direction, by hand; is this indicative of anything?
I realize that it could be the water level switch, but at the beginning of the cycle, the water does fill up and shut off; at this point, I should have agitation.
I can spin the drum within the outer plastic bowl in both directions, but am not exactly sure the total process.
any help appreciated.

Wayne,

If the motor does run during the agitation and spin then the problem most likely is a broken motor drive coupling (#13 on the diagram)

- The part number for the coupling is AP3963893

You have to remove the washer cabinet to access the part. The complete instruction attached.

Thanks for your reply Gene.
Today, I eased the unit over and started inspecting the coupling. On first look, the coupling looked ok, but I noticed debris all over the frame surrounding the coupling and then I tried to spin the coupling, it was loose as a goose. After I removed the coupling, I was able to spin the agitator which backfeeds the gear box and it spun freely. I went to a hardware store, replaced the coupling and so far, it has washed about 5 loads of clothes.

I appreciate this forum and the people who are generous with their trade knowledge.
