Am in Japan with a 220v Korea LG Kimchi refrigerator; LG Japan service center will not touch it with a 10 foot pole;power to all the fans/lights; compressor will not come on; replaced the control board and running capacitor; same issue; compressor is 220vac; power leaving the control board is 93V; cabling runs through the refridgerator to the plug adjacent to the compressor; unplug the compressor..still get 93VAC; have a "American spec" kimch refigerator manual I found on the web which has close layout/schematic of this one; sure seems to be the starting compacitor is inside the sealed compressor unit; can shake the compressor and hear a clunking sound...Wife is Korean and wants to buy a new one; and of course LG Japan will sell me one but voltage is 100V; already bad enough we move with a step up one to change 110v to 220....but dont want to be worrying about a step down one...

You need to verify if a shorted compressor blew out the control, or the control is bad and compressor ok.
If you have a meter, let me know.

Three wires going to the powerplug on the compressor; ground and red/blue; have resistance on all combinations. From what I can see on forums for most compressors, the powerplug leads to a relay/PTC etc. While the schematic on the rear of the unit shows one, it must be inside the compressor unit; there is a two pronged connector leading to the compressor that the main power cable/plug assembly connects to.

There are three pins on the compressor in a triangle configuration. The top pin usually is the common pin,this pin has the overload device on it. The two bottom pins are the run and start winding pins. Check the resistance between the top pin and the bottom two pins. The pin with the highest resistance is the start pin, usually on the bottom right. The other one is the run pin.

Richappy--thank you for the information; have googled this to all ends; there are only two connections to this compressor; 93vac accross them; their are two wires coming from the wiring harness connector; the only other wire is a jumper wire from the fridge chassis to the compressor; safety ground so to speak;

"maybe these two go to a relay/PTC/starter capacitor inside the compressor?"

Only having the 93vac on the two wires sure seems suspect; getting the control card was very difficult; hind sight being what it is, would have disconnected the compressor and then checked the voltage from it that feeds the compressor;

What if I run a separate 220vac straight to the compressor?

Putting 220 volts 60 htz to the compressor terminals might blow it out, the start device and overload most probably in the control module and not in the compressor.
Look at the control module, there might be a inverter in there that changes the voltage frequency, it would show up as a toroidal coil.
