I have Kitchenaid Model KUIS185JWHO ice maker and it will make ice for sometimes as long as 3 or 4 days and then it will not release the slab and build up until it runs out of water. If I turn it off and let the slab melt it will run for awhile and do it again. I have descaled the evaporator and it looks perfect. The machine is 9 years old. I have checked the voltage at the hot gas solenoid it is 122 volts ac. The cycle time for making a slab of ice is about 25 minutes hot gas time is about 2 minutes. Also what dose the thermister under the evaporator do? I have no way to check to see if it needs Freon other than the time it takes to make ice. Any help would be appreciated. Wayne

The problem was a cracked evaporator thermistor. It would check good and then every now and then it would open.
