The fan next to the compressor was making noise, so I disconnected the fan to tighten the screws. When I did the ground on the fan motor touched the hot plug wire causing a spark. The compressor would not work anymore. I replaced the starter relay, but it didn't work. Could it have taken out the capacitor also or cooked the compressor?

You shorted the input voltage to the compressor and fan motor, compressor probably ok. If no fans running, you may have damaged the cold control AP2061705
