This is a top load washer 1.5cu (stacked) Recently the washer would not advance and i would hear a humming noise and smell burning. I thought it was the start capacitor. Ohmed it out and it was fine. Then I pulled the motor and checked the transmission. That was fine I actually could turn the coupling (also inspected and fine) and the agitator in the tub spun freely. Checked the pump (also spins freely by hand). So I bought a new motor, cap tube, and start switch installed it and the new motor still humms and will not start the tub spinning. I traced one lead of the start cap tube wire into the timer box. This is the only other thing i can think of that would be the problem i have pretty much elimated every thing else. Has anyone had this problem where the timer was preventing the motor from starting and it was just humming??

Ok, I replaced the Timer, the motor, the starter, the capacitor, (250.00 bucks) and totally diconnected the motor from the transmission and the pump and the (*&()$#@@ motor still will not start unless i manually give it a good turn (it just humms and starts to overheat).... any suggesting would be great before i go to home depot and spend 1200 bucks on a new washer/dryer and throw this one out the @#@%%^# 'n window. I'm kinda thinking that there must be a voltage issue but not sure how to correct it or what wires to test for what voltage. Any Suggestions would be great

250 bucks down the tubes.... by ohming out wires i found a short between the cap. tube and the starter switch..... un real!!!!! a 5" peice of wire was shorted (the connector wire about 1/8" from the terminal somehow pulled away. And I do not mean at the terminal i'm talking in the wire itself. Very unique as far as i'm concerned. Anyone else have this happen to them????? I hope I save some you do it yourselfer's some money.. check the obvious first.... I will say that the machine runs like new...(basically it is new all new parts)!!!
