Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 4/21/2011(UTC) Posts: 4		Hi all. I have been looking for a solution to an issue I am having and hope someone here can give assistance. We received the roper fridge about a year and a half ago and was told it was only a few years old. . It worked great up until last month when suddenly everything was defrosted one morning. The fans do come on when I turn the cold selection dial. However the compressor does not turn on at all.. it makes no noise. I have cleaned everything, taken off all parts connected to compressor and shook them and can hear not rattling. I have turned the defrost screw until it clicks and it does not turn the compressor on. The compressor it self does not feel warm or cold to the touch. Any advice would be great.

First check to see if power is getting to the compressor. Could be a bad wire, rare but it does happen. Then test the compressor and it's components. Below is a good link on how to do this. The fridge was running for about an hour. then.. soon after moving the fridge back into the kitchen I hear a pop noise and the lights dim in the kitchen. Blackened plug and the compressor wont start. All the wiring is correct.. For some reason the amp draw seems to be tripping the overload. Guy at the repair place says it sound like the compressor is bad..
