I purchased the new control panel for the Maytag MAH6700AWW, part number WPL34001479. It came with a "new" motion sensor. The directions to install the sensor shows it under the metal wire harness on the left side and screwed into the plastic control panel tab on the right. Problem is, the metal piece that comes with it is about an inch to short for this application. In addition, the way the metal part is bent, it is to high for the existing screws to work, and it will be to high for the top panel to be re-installed. Any ideas on hiw to install it? Does it need to be installed? Do I need a different bracket to install it?

GFALO,

What is your serial number on the data plate / serial tag ?

You may have orderred the wrong parts,

34001488 - MAH6700 Series 10

34001479 - MAH6700 Series 11 – 13

The first two numbers in the serial number is your series number,

Please double check and varify if you orderred the correct part.

I'm not aware of any problems with these kits, at this point, They have been being used for several years now.

:) :) :)

GFALO,

OK,

You've got a series 11 machine,

You should have orderred part number 34001479 / AP4044320, (I believe, that's the part you orderred).

And it should have had instruction sheet number 16027155 in the packaging.

Did you follow the instructions on pg 2, steps 4 and 5.

You may want to recheck your steps.

In the mean time, I'll have the APP Parts Resource Team, check stock and any files / notes in the warehouse.

:) :) :)

I did review the instructions, several times. Where they want it to connect, under the metal brace on the left and to the first tab for the control panel on the right, it is not long enough and bent the wrong way.
I tried to line up the holes in the bracket to any of the holes along the brace and panel, they do not line up anywhere. The way the brace is bent, it will not allow it to be secured the way in the instructions, due to the bends in the metal frame of the washer. It can only be secure by tuning it over and using one screw under the metal brace. It is not secured un the right side at that point. In any other way, it will be to high for the Top panel to go back on.

GFALO,

I will have our APP Resource Team, have the warehouse pull and check the parts.

I can only imagine we have a mixxed part in the bin or wrong part in the box.

You may have to re order the part, but let me check first.

GFALO,

I don't know what to tell you,

We checked our stock and any parts notes or information.

We have nothing in our files.(see below for their response).

I called factory that is the correct part# for the model and serial number supplied. They have no reported problems with this part except for a complaint back in Oct/2010 about too many wires but that was a mispick cause their inventory was correct.

You may want to re order another part,

That would be my only reccomendation, At this point.

:) :) :)
